Barbie doll cake

I’ve always wanted to make a Barbie doll cake..but I don’t know who to make it for..huhu..thanks to my regular customer rafidah, I get a chance to make this beautiful cake. To me, the idea of a doll cake is not just the cake shaped like a doll, but giving the doll as a gift to the celebrated birthday girl as well ~ double joy! 😀

Rafidah requested the cake to be decorated pink and purple..I choose a Barbie doll with her dress readily “printed” on her body, so that I won’t have to put buttercream on her body..that would be messy and kind a ruin the beautiful doll..hehe..I had fun mixing the colors as I tried to match the colors on the doll itself..the colors turned out to be very unique and pretty 😉 talk about customized colors!

Here’s the Barbie doll cake fully decorated. Since Barbie has very long legs, I had to put not 4, but 5 layers of cake to hold her! I didn’t use the special Barbie “skirt” pan, just your regular round cake pan in different sizes and a small bundt pan for the top of the skirt and a bit of cake carving 😉

Angry bird cake ~ flying solo

In my past entry I shared my angry birds and the whole gang cake..this time around it’s just the red bird all alone..flying solo..and still ANGRY! LOL

Jersey cake – Liverpool

Another jersey cake from our kitchen 😉 this time it’s for a Liverpool fan 😀

I am number 4

This entry has nothing to do with the movie..hehe..it’s about this cake shaped like the number 4 B-)

It’s a rainbow cake shaped like the number 4..I baked the rainbow cake square shaped, layered the cake n cut it out into number 4 shape; my way (hope u can see the lines)

As usual I usually make some changes while assembling the cake..and here we have the coated number 4 cake ready to be decorated

Cake Project: Jersey Cake ~ SPAIN

I made two spain jersey cakes in one day..guess there’s a lot of spain fans out there..especially when they won euro 2012 😀  just moist chocolate cake with buttercream and edible images for the logos (I just know I cannot endure drawing the logo :p LOL)

Since I made two cakes at one go, I baked 3 batches of chocolate cakes, 2 in a 13×19 pan and 1 in an 8×8 pan. Split the cake in the 13×9 pan in two to make the ‘body’ and cut out some from the 8×8 pan for the sleeves and ‘glued’ them together with buttercream 🙂

3D Cake Project: McQueen Car (take three!)

making a mcqueen car again 😉 (3rd time I think..)

this time it’s a small 1kilo car, and I remembered to take pictures all the way 😀

This was the initial cutout…and I’ve made adjustments along the way..carving here and there…

and I end up with something like this…(well, there were still few little adjustments after this photo was taken..huhu)

Decorated Red Velvet Cupcakes

I received a request to decorate red velvet cupcakes..I end up frosting the cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and piped writings and patterns using a red buttercream 🙂 was going for the filled frosting effect on the cupcakes…could have done better I suppose 😀

Cake Project: Jet Plane

“I’m leaving on a jet plane…” – can’t get this tune (Aerosmith) out of my head now..LOL 😀

I planned on doing a big flat rocket ship cake for my son’s birthday..since he’ll be celebrating at school, so I figured a flat and wide cake is most suitable – easier for the teachers to cut and distribute the cake to all of the young kids 🙂

but birthday boy wanted something else: he demanded a jet plane cake :p so, I end up making a 3D jet plane cake..it’s kind of a ‘de ja vu’ because I made an airplane cake for his second birthday – also YELLOW in color! he just loves yellow! can’t argue with him..haha 😀

Minnie Mouse Cake

a simple yet sweet and cute cake – Minnie mouse themed 😀

edible image on top – the cake is pink with minimalist white piping, and a cute little Minnie bow on top 😉

i was so excited to use my new #22 tip to decorate this cake, love the shells 😀
