matte ganche

i did the usual pour ganache on cake method..but i wanted a matte finish because i think it would look better with the flowers later..

ganache as we all know has a smooth glossy effect if executed properly (hehe)..my kitchen project today was getting a matte effect on the ganache..so, it was experimenting time πŸ˜‰ i used a spatula dunked into warm water (and wiped dry) to smooth out the ganache and wallah..here’s my ganached cake with the matte finish i wanted πŸ˜‰

hantaran:Β gifts exchanged between the bride n groom on the wedding day in Malay culture. The gifts are decorated really nice andΒ glamorousΒ and placed neatly on pretty stands called ‘dulang’. The usual gifts exchanged are clothes, make up sets, perfume sets, handbags, wallets, shoes, chocolates and of course cakes!

Tips on cutting cheesecake

Cutting a cheesecake can be a bit messy..(or any other cake, but cheesecake in particular is extra messy for me, and just won’t work with the usual ‘cake knife’ πŸ˜€ )

I’d like to share with you the best way to cut it into perfect slices πŸ˜‰

  • use a normal long & sharp knife
  • run it under hot water
  • wipe the knife dry using a cloth / towel
  • cut the cheesecake! you’ll get perfect lines
  • and when your knife gets dirty, just clean it and repeat πŸ˜‰

hope this helps πŸ™‚

Tips: cleaning up butter cream

either u’re eating cake or making it…butter cream can be a mess…and is quite hard to clean up after 😦

it turns out there’s a really easy way of getting rid of buttercream from plates, knives, u name it! – simply using hot water!! wallaaa…it dissolves like magic πŸ˜‰

makes u realize tho, one MUST drink warm water with cake πŸ˜€
