LEGO cake

hi there!!! how I missed blogging here! It has been really looooong since I last posted. I am still baking and decorating, the usual stuff, nothing to fancy yet not too shabby..heheh..been working on a few projects here n there..the kids are growing, 2 toddlers in the house ~ means hand are full, schedules are tight, lots of stuff to do and learn 😉

here’s a LEGO inspired cake complete with a lego man stick. this is the usual rainbow cake, with all 6 colourful layers in it 😉

 

have u guys watched the LEGO Movie? we have and I just loved it! “everything is awesome!” <– can’t get this tune out of my head for weeks…LOL

Ben10 is number 1

Rainbow cake is getting “numbered” again 😉 This time it is the number “1”..Nurul from kuantan requested the cake for her nephew’s first birthday 🙂

As usual I baked a Square rainbow cake and layered them to start with..and cut into pieces like these

Arrange them into the number 1 (cut off a bit to make it perfectly number 1 and glued the pieces together with icing)

Covered the cake with icing..and now I love piping the sides of a rainbow cake with stripes of colors 😉

Nurul requested a Ben10 themed cake..and she wanted to put the birthday boy s picture on the cake..but since it was a very last minute order, I didn’t have time to prepare the edible image for the cake..so I gave her an alternative..photo flags to stick on the cake

Hope Nurul and her family is happy with the cake 😀 and I do hope she would share her pic of the cake with me..if she does I”ll share em with u 😉

Making a numbered cake is always fun..this time I’m doing a double digit cake – 63..it was a challenge for me as I’m used to make cheerful and cute single digit cakes for kids 😉

This 63 numbered cake is for a mom as a special gift from her kids..Kak Ida from bukit sekilau, Kuantan and her siblings wanted a number 63 cake for their mom..I feel happy to make the cake because I was given the freedom to use my creativity on this cake (every baker appreciates this i think..hehee)

At first I still had no idea on how to decorate the cake..even after the cake was baked I was still not inspired..hehe..but I kept on going..carved the cake into “63” (only after the cake was 100% done I realized a spot I forgot to carve on the number 3)

As I was deciding the color for the cake..the design of the just came to me..yay! The theme was pink and I suddenly was in the mood for roses 😉

And I was in the mood for chocolates..so here’s the cake fully decorated with buttercream roses and heart shaped chocolates all over..I hope it’s not too much..LoL

This was my favourite piece on this cake

I do hope kak Ida n her family especially her mom is happy with this cake 🙂

Romantic red velvet cheesecake

It’s the red velvet cheesecake’s turn to get all romantic 😉

A heart shaped red velvet cake for the base

Decorate it with bright red rossettes to add more flair..”can u feel the love tonight”

To get a smooth border of red velvet cake crumbs, i press them gently towards the cake using a butter knife

hannah montana guitar cake

mr amir requested a hannah montana themed cake for her daughter, and I offered him a hannah montana guitar cake instead! i just love cake carving..have to seize this opportunity of a cake project! 😉

went to the baking supplies shop to find the largest cake board, and all they have was a 13×18 board..ah well, that’ll just have to do 😀

baked a chocolate cake in a 9×13 pan n cut it out into a guitar silhouette

Barbie doll cake

I’ve always wanted to make a Barbie doll cake..but I don’t know who to make it for..huhu..thanks to my regular customer rafidah, I get a chance to make this beautiful cake. To me, the idea of a doll cake is not just the cake shaped like a doll, but giving the doll as a gift to the celebrated birthday girl as well ~ double joy! 😀

Rafidah requested the cake to be decorated pink and purple..I choose a Barbie doll with her dress readily “printed” on her body, so that I won’t have to put buttercream on her body..that would be messy and kind a ruin the beautiful doll..hehe..I had fun mixing the colors as I tried to match the colors on the doll itself..the colors turned out to be very unique and pretty 😉 talk about customized colors!

Here’s the Barbie doll cake fully decorated. Since Barbie has very long legs, I had to put not 4, but 5 layers of cake to hold her! I didn’t use the special Barbie “skirt” pan, just your regular round cake pan in different sizes and a small bundt pan for the top of the skirt and a bit of cake carving 😉

Cake Project: Jersey Cake ~ SPAIN

I made two spain jersey cakes in one day..guess there’s a lot of spain fans out there..especially when they won euro 2012 😀  just moist chocolate cake with buttercream and edible images for the logos (I just know I cannot endure drawing the logo :p LOL)

Since I made two cakes at one go, I baked 3 batches of chocolate cakes, 2 in a 13×19 pan and 1 in an 8×8 pan. Split the cake in the 13×9 pan in two to make the ‘body’ and cut out some from the 8×8 pan for the sleeves and ‘glued’ them together with buttercream 🙂
